Second-View Thrift Store and Cafe Riverview

  Happy customer

HOURS:  Wednesday - Saturday  10:00 AM - 3:00 PM  year-round

Second-View Thrift Store opened in February of 2008.  Its mission is to provide young adults with learning disabilities, the opportunity to develop employment skills, while establishing a positive outreach to the Cape community.

Second-View, a retail enterprise, located at 451 Route 6A in East Sandwich (one mile west of the main campus), was the brainchild of Kerry Macurdy, Lead Vocational Specialist for the Riverview School GROW program. GROW is an acronym for Getting Ready for the Outside World. Second-View was designed to give GROW students an opportunity to develop marketable job skills in a supervised environment.

Riverview continue to accept donations of clothing, games, household items, china, accessories and furniture. Student families, staff and local residents have been very generous with donations. GROW students have diligently reconditioned items for resale, sorting and spot cleaning, then tagging and running the shop in an efficient and friendly manner.

We encourage parents and staff to bring gently used treasures to the store.

Lynne Moffa is the shop's manager and she encourages retailers who may have over-stocked or unsold items to call or bring them to the store, in support of the students' endeavors.

Anyone wishing to make a donation of items, furnishings or cash to Second-View should contact Kerry Macurdy at (508) 737-3847 or kmacurdy@riverviewschool.org.

Cafe Riverview is located in the same building as the Thrift Store and is open Tuesday - Saturday 7:30am-2:00pm (winter hours).  The Cafe serves as a training facility in food service field for GROW students.  Breakfast and lunch is served with an excellent selection of coffees, lattes, paninis, sandwiches, home-made soups and pastries.  Daily blackboard specials available.  Visit www.caferiverview.org to learn more.
