Social Skills

Young adults often come to Riverview having experienced school failure, lack of friendships and poor self-esteem. Therefore, each student is assigned an advisor who serves as a liaison between home and school and provides support with self-advocacy, self-awareness, problem solving and social skills.

Students learn how to advocate for assistance or accommodations when needed. They learn that while their disability impacts them, it does not prevent them from having a full and meaningful life.
“Riverview saw that our son may have something important to say, and you helped him find his voice and then listened as he used it.”  -- Parent
