The Future location of Friends Together
A Place Designed for
Adult Life and Community
Friends Together is being developed on a large, existing property in Hyannis with the goal of creating a welcoming, purposeful place for adult life, connection, and belonging. Rather than starting from scratch, our approach focuses on thoughtfully reimagining and adapting what already exists.
Over time, this location will support Friends Together programming, shared amenities, and opportunities for connection—both within the Friends Together community and with the broader Cape Cod community.
The Community Hub
Friends Together has applied to renovate the existing conference center building on the property, which will become the Friends Together Community Hub. This building is planned to serve as the primary home for Friends Together’s future programs, including:
- The Friends Together Day Program
- Evening and weekend social and recreational programming
- Shared indoor spaces for classes, gatherings, and daily community life
The Community Hub will also include:
- A privately operated health club and pool, with membership included as part of Friends Together participation
- Additional amenity space that can host Friends Together programming as well as inclusive community events
The Community Hub is designed to be a central gathering place—supporting wellness, social connection, and everyday routines in a way that feels active, welcoming, and adult.

This overview represents a high-level look at the Community Hub. Plans also include dedicated music and performing arts space, a computer lab, flexible multipurpose rooms, quiet break spaces, outdoor gathering areas including a patio garden and upper deck, and additional spaces designed to support daily life and community connection.
Future Housing
Riverview is developing housing opportunities on property adjacent to the Friends Together program location. The existing hotel building is being adapted for residential use as part of the broader site vision, with housing to be operated by an independent third-party residential provider.
Planning is underway to better understand:
- How current hotel rooms could be adapted into residential units
- The types of shared spaces and supports that would be appropriate
- How housing could be introduced in phases over time
Living in the housing will be optional and will not be required in order to participate in Friends Together programs.
The Larger Property
and Outdoor Spaces
The surrounding property offers an opportunity to create outdoor spaces that support both everyday life and broader community benefit. Friends Together is exploring plans to convert approximately 20 acres of the property into publicly accessible conservation land, including:
- Parkland and green space
- Walking trails
- Areas for quiet recreation and connection to nature
Over time, the broader property may also support additional community-oriented elements that align with Friends Together’s mission and the character of the area. These could include small-scale, purpose-driven uses connected to wellness, food, learning, or community gathering, developed thoughtfully and in phases.
These outdoor spaces and future elements are envisioned as shared resources that support wellness, inclusion, and connection for Friends Together participants and the wider community.
