Amy Brenneman

Amy Brenneman is an Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor and producer whose work on television includes NYPD Blue, Private Practice, The Leftovers, Goliath, and Judging Amy, based on the work of her mother, the Honorable Frederica S. Brenneman, which she created and executive produced. More recently she’s been seen in Tell Me Your Secrets, Shining Girls and is currently starring in The Old Man on FX. Film: Heat, Casper, Fear, Daylight, Friends and Neighbors, The Jane Austen Book Club among others.

She holds a BA in Comparative Religion from Harvard University and was a founding member of Cornerstone Theater company, which produces site-specific, community-based theater on themes of social justice. Other theater: Williamstown Theater Festival, Yale Rep, Lincoln Center, Playwrights Horizons and she recently appeared with Bryan Cranston in the West Coast premiere of Power of Sail at the Geffen Playhouse. Amy’s original theater work has been produced at The Yard and the American Repertory Theater, and she has taught drama and creative process at Harvard and UCLA.

Amy and her husband Brad Silberling are the proud parents of Charlotte, now finishing her final year of GROW here at Riverview! In Los Angeles, Charlotte attended Chime Charter School; Amy and Brad produced and directed the documentary, “The Way the World Should Be” about the trailblazing work of the Chime Institute and its mission of inclusive education. Amy also created the school’s annual multi-media fundraiser “Chime-a-palooza” which over the years featured musicians such as Tom Morello and Chris Stills.

For her activist work, Amy has been honored by Women in Film, the National Children’s Alliance, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Help Group, The Feminist Majority, and the California State Assembly, among others. Along with her family, she traveled to Peru as an ambassador for CARE and in 2019 received the Change Agent Award from En Garde Arts.
