STUDENT LIFE

HEALTH & WELLNESS

building lifelong habits

At Riverview, wellness is a way of life. Active living, mindfulness, and nutrition are built into day-to-day life. The end result? Students internalize healthy habits that last a lifetime.

Wellness at riverview

Fitness

Physical activity is essential to support a healthy lifestyle. At Riverview, exercise is woven into students’ daily routines, with P.E. classes and a variety of fitness activities offered in our state-of-the-art Wellness Center. Students are regularly seen walking our brand new track or playing games such as frisbee on our turf field in between classes. Click below to see some of our athletic programing.

Nutrition

Healthy eating is a cornerstone of our educational model; students build a foundation for nutritious choices through hands-on education and opportunities for making positive choices independently. Whether cooking for themselves in the dorms or deciding what to eat in the dining hall, students are taught the importance of being thoughtful in their food choices.

Mindfulness

Riverview’s commitment to teaching mindfulness helps students stay grounded, focused, and calm. The Cohen Center is home to our Yoga Room, a space dedicated to daily mindfulness classes that encourage thoughtful well-being. Mindfulness is integrated into classroom practices to support self-awareness and healthy coping strategies.

Athletics

Riverview has a robust athletic program, encouraging all students to try something new. Our inclusive programming means every student has a spot on the field (or court, or track)!

Recreation

Clubs provide a wide range of opportunities for students to explore their interests. If team sports aren’t a fit, options like student government, nature walks on local trails, or tabletop games offer something for everyone!

Community Outings

We have regularly scheduled community outings, allowing students to get out into the local community and take part in everything that is available to us.

Examples of community outings include:

  • Rock Climbing, Ice Skating, Hiking & More!
  • Local Sporting Events
  • Museums
  • Plays and Concerts
  • Local Fairs and Festivals

wellness in action

My favorite part about being on a team is sportsmanship. Being a part of a team… it’s something that’s good for making new friends. Cheering them on. Helping them out. All of that is sportsmanship.

Lilly

Riverview Student

Sometimes we go to the meditation room to do mindfulness, and relaxation. I find that really helpful.

Charlie

Riverview Student

My favorite activities are playing basketball, swimming, and walking around the track.
