STUDENT LIFE

boarding at riverview

welcome home

At Riverview, dorm life is a vital part of the learning experience. With an 8:1 student-to-staff ratio, our residential program is thoughtfully designed to teach independent living skills in a supportive, welcoming environment.

more than a dorm

  • Learning Where You Live
  • Household Management
  • Physical & Emotional Wellness
  • Executive Functioning Skills
  • Social Growth
  • Learning Where You Live

Students don’t just live in the dorms, they learn in them. With structured support from residential staff, students practice skills and routines designed to provide them with independence and self-confidence.

  • Household Management

Through keeping up with household chores, students build the habits needed to maintain the cleanliness of shared spaces and prepare to manage a home independently. Staff support and visual aids help students take ownership of their responsibilities.

  • Physical & Emotional Wellness

Routines are in place to support both physical and emotional health. From hygiene and sleep habits to emotional regulation and coping strategies, students build healthy, sustainable routines.

  • Executive Functioning Skills

Students strengthen skills like time management, planning, organizing, prioritizing, and following multi-step directions. These abilities are woven into daily tasks and reinforced through real-world practice.

  • Social Growth

Afternoons and weekends are filled with both scheduled activities and free time. Students learn to plan their own schedules, pursue interests, and build friendships through clubs/activities, social events, and shared experiences.

the grow difference

GROW offers students more autonomy, more community access, and a curriculum designed to prepare them for adulthood. It’s a bridge between school life and real life, with support every step of the way.

Real-World Experience

Students travel into the local community to practice budgeting, navigating transportation, managing time, and staying safe in new environments. These outings provide authentic opportunities to apply what they’ve learned.

A Stepping Stone to Independence

GROW dorms mirror the structure of a college campus, with both on- and off-campus housing that aligns with each student’s level of independence. Students take an active role in shaping their own lives as they cook their meals, manage their chore schedules, and choose how to spend their free time.

get up and go

From weekend adventures to afternoon clubs, our dorm staff plays a key role in planning afternoon and weekend activities to enrich our students’ lives.
