Riverview Unified Track Team Shines at 2026 State Championship

On Wednesday, May 27th, Riverview’s Unified Track and Field team delivered an extraordinary performance at the 2026 MIAA State Championship held at Natick High School. More than 700 student-athletes from 60 schools came together for a day centered on teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work. Despite having a student population of just 210, Riverview competed head-to-head with schools that have well over 1,000 enrolled students with both neurodiverse and neurotypical athletes competing.

Riverview finished an impressive 3rd overall in Division I out of 26 schools, highlighted by some impressive athleticism in the relay category. Competing in the Mixed 4×100 Meter Relay, students Nick G., Nick B., Sam M., and Molly M. placed 1st overall in the state with an impressive time of 53.21. Riverview’s Mixed 4×400 Meter Relay team of Ben N., Asa H., Jackson G., and Aiden M. also earned an outstanding 3rd place state finish with a time of 5:04.09.

Sam M. also delivered one of the individual standout performances of the entire championship meet, winning the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 11.65; just one tenth of a second shy of the fastest Massachusetts varsity time recorded this season (11.53). Even more impressive, Sam achieved the feat without the use of starting blocks, equipment typically utilized in varsity competition. Along the way, he defeated athletes from much larger programs, including a three-time all-conference football player.

The day was a true celebration of inclusion and athletic excellence, with the Riverview Athletes making our community proud!
